Sara Cash & Carry is looking for a skilled and experienced Fish Monger to manage the daily operations at the fish counter. The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning, cutting, filleting, and displaying a variety of fish while ensuring that all products meet high standards of freshness and quality. This role requires effective stock handling, strict adherence to hygiene and food safety protocols, and delivering excellent customer service consistent with professional supermarket practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, cut, scale, and fillet different types of fish according to customer requirements.
- Handle, store, and preserve seafood under proper chilled conditions to maintain optimal quality.
- Consistently monitor fish freshness and uphold hygiene and food safety standards.
- Arrange attractive and well-organized displays at the fish counter, ensuring accurate labeling and pricing of products.
- Track stock levels, minimize wastage, prevent spoilage, and apply FIFO (First In, First Out) principles for product rotation.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the fish counter, tools, equipment, and surrounding work area.
- Follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for receiving, weighing, handling, and displaying seafood products.
- Reduce product wastage and promptly report any damaged, expired, or substandard stock.
- Provide professional customer service by assisting customers with fish selection and offering preparation advice.
- Collaborate with the Fresh Food Manager regarding stock replenishment, daily sales updates, and operational issues.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in fish handling and fish counter operations.
- Strong knowledge of various fish species, cutting and filleting techniques, freshness assessment, and seafood preservation methods.
- Practical understanding of food safety regulations, personal hygiene standards, and cold-chain management.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced supermarket environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience working with well-known supermarket chains such as Metro, Al-Fatah, Imtiaz, Carrefour, or similar is highly preferred.
- Competitive pay ranging from Rs30,000 to Rs80,000 per hour.
- This is an on-site position requiring physical presence at the store location.
