We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Immigration Legal Assistant to join our team and support our legal professionals in delivering top-notch immigration services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prior knowledge of executive assistant or legal assistant required
  • Knowledge of Canadian immigration programs and assessments required
  • Excellent writing and computer skills
  • Perform client correspondence and handle legal documents, such as immigration applications, affidavits, and briefs, from handwritten notes, dictation, or electronic sources.
  • Prepare and key in correspondence and legal documents, such as immigration applications, affidavits, and briefs, from handwritten notes, dictation, or electronic sources.
  • Review and proofread documents and correspondence to ensure compliance with legal procedures and proper grammatical usage.
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and conferences for legal professionals.
  • Set up and maintain filing systems, utilizing knowledge of legal records and procedures, and frequently handling confidential materials and documents.
  • Open and distribute regular and electronic incoming mail and other material, coordinating the flow of information internally and with other departments or organizations.
  • Determine and establish office procedures and routines.
  • Assist with the preparation of legal research and case management.
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on case status.
  • Perform other general office duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma or certificate in legal administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in immigration law.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and legal software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Canadian immigration laws and procedures is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
