Flavor chemists, also called flavorists, work primarily in the food, beverage, Dairy, Bakery, Confectioneries, Savory, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. They use scientific and natural analytical tools, along with creativity, to boost natural flavors and create new ones.

  • Facilitates the resolution of raw material issues through proper testing protocols in appropriate flavors, evaluation of analytical results, coordination/communication with applicable departments, and documentation of results.
  • Under general supervision, develops methods and procedures needed to improve the processing, canning, freezing, storing, packaging, and distribution to customer specific manufactured products. 
  • Ensures all product ingredients and packaging components meet customer and FDA compliance guidelines. 
  • Monitors the flavor, appearance, and texture, test, aroma of all products, ensuring overall product quality and customer satisfaction.  
  • Flavor chemists examine the characteristics of proteins, fats, starches, carbohydrates, natural flavors, and other components. 
  • Responsible for develop candy, toffee, bubblegum, biscuits, snacks and other product on customer demand. 
  • Can create flavors that smell better, have a more distinct taste, and last longer than natural flavors. 
  • Compounds batches for evaluations of alternate raw materials/substitutions, performs alternate raw material evaluations, and maintains documentation. 
  • Collaborate with production to find more efficient ways to produce batches, while maintaining quality and cost guidelines. 
  • Strong collaboration with Marketing Team, as well should visit to market client and their R&D team.    
  • Participates in formula review process to assure formulas adhere to standards of manufacturability, efficiency, and best practices, should be responsible for production quality and answer customer query for satisfy the concern. 
  • Assists with flavor quality issues by trouble-shooting and utilizing root cause analysis. 
  • Responsible for develop product on daily basis, and sampling on daily basis. 
  • Performs other duties as directed by manager.
