This role serves as the lead finance business partner for VEON's Payments & Digital Assets division. The successful candidate will provide financial planning, analysis, and commercial insight to support strategic decision-making, resource allocation, and performance management across wallets, remittances, payments, and digital assets. The position requires bringing financial discipline to a fast-growing and entrepreneurial business, translating complex commercial and operational activities into clear financial narratives and actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning processes for the Payments & Digital Assets business.
- Develop and maintain robust financial models covering revenue, unit economics, cost base, and profitability across wallet, remittance, and digital asset product lines.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast, explaining variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Act as a finance business partner to product, commercial, and operating teams, embedding financial rigor into daily decision-making.
- Evaluate pricing strategies, corridor economics, and partner commercial terms to ensure sustainable margins and healthy unit economics.
- Provide financial input for new market entries, product launches, and partnership negotiations.
- Develop and stress-test business cases for new products, markets, and strategic initiatives, including ROI, payback, and sensitivity analysis.
- Support capital allocation decisions by evaluating competing investment opportunities across the portfolio.
- Collaborate with corporate development and treasury on funding requirements and financing structures when relevant.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reporting packs for senior leadership and Board-level discussions.
- Create and maintain KPI and unit economics dashboards to track performance across markets and product lines.
- Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with Group finance standards and controls.
- Coordinate with Group finance, treasury, tax, and controllership functions to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Work closely with local operating company finance teams to ensure consistent reporting and data quality.
- Support ad hoc strategic and financial analyses requested by senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Over 10 years of experience in Finance, with a strong background in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and/or Commercial Finance.
- Advanced financial modeling skills, capable of building and stress-testing complex, multi-market models.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial analysis into clear, actionable business recommendations.
- Proven experience partnering with product, commercial, and operating teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders across multiple markets.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience in FinTech, payments, digital wallets, or financial services industries is highly preferred.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent are advantageous.
