FreeCAD Specialist

In this remote, hourly contractor role, you will serve as a FreeCAD Specialist (Subject Matter Expert) responsible for creating realistic and challenging computer-based tasks using FreeCAD and related parametric CAD workflows. Your work will involve designing practical FreeCAD tasks, documenting them clearly within SuperAnnotate, ensuring your computer setup supports the task requirements, and recording yourself performing these tasks. The goal is to produce high-quality training data that helps improve AI models by demonstrating how real users complete open-source CAD and parametric modeling tasks.

Tasks you develop and execute may include sketching, applying constraints, using Part Design and Part workbenches, creating technical drawings with TechDraw, parametric modeling, exporting files, assembling multi-part workflows, and troubleshooting model issues. You may also be asked to write task prompts, demonstrate correct workflow execution, and ensure recordings are clear, realistic, and valuable for AI training purposes. Key Responsibilities

- Create realistic FreeCAD tasks by designing challenging, computer-executable workflows and documenting them clearly within SuperAnnotate.
- Prepare your work environment by ensuring FreeCAD is installed, necessary files and reference materials are ready, and all assets required for the task are available before recording.
- Record yourself performing the FreeCAD tasks, following project instructions closely to ensure the workflow is complete, clear, and realistic.
- Provide detailed documentation including task context, step-by-step instructions, goals, dimensions, files, and notes to help reviewers fully understand the task and its completion.
- Demonstrate practical use of FreeCAD features such as sketches, constraints, parametric modeling, various workbenches, technical drawings, exports, assemblies, and troubleshooting.
- Review your recordings and documentation prior to submission to maintain high quality, ensuring tasks are comprehensive, understandable, and aligned with project guidelines.

Required Qualifications

- Proven hands-on experience using FreeCAD for parametric modeling, sketching, applying constraints, creating technical drawings, exporting files, and related CAD workflows.
- English language proficiency at B2 level or higher to accurately interpret project instructions, document tasks clearly, and communicate effectively with the project team.
- Comfortable working independently on a computer, managing files, installing and using required software, navigating interfaces, and recording workflows.
- Ability to design realistic and challenging FreeCAD tasks that reflect genuine product design, mechanical modeling, technical drawing, or open-source CAD scenarios.
- Strong understanding of FreeCAD fundamentals including Sketcher, constraints, Part Design, Part workbench, bodies, sketches, pads, pockets, booleans, TechDraw, and file exports.
- Capability to ensure your technical setup supports task execution, including having FreeCAD installed, files and assets prepared, and references ready before recording.
- High attention to detail in task preparation, workflow execution, and quality checking of recordings to ensure clarity and completeness.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to consistently deliver quality work in a remote, hourly contractor role across different time zones.
