Front-End Developer (with WordPress Expertise)

A Canada-based digital services company specializing in creating accessible and user-friendly websites for school boards and municipal governments is looking for a skilled Front-End Developer based in Pakistan. This remote position can be full-time or contract-based and offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and practical experience with WordPress development. You will collaborate closely with a small remote team to design modern, responsive web interfaces and customize WordPress themes to meet the specific needs of clients.

Key Responsibilities
Develop front-end user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery. Customize and integrate WordPress themes and templates to align with project requirements. Build responsive layouts that work seamlessly across all major browsers and mobile devices. Ensure all work complies with WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility standards and SEO best practices. Implement dynamic features such as filters, search functionality, and navigation menus. Collaborate with WordPress backend developers to integrate and manage content efficiently. Assist in content migration and refine themes to improve usability and design. Optimize front-end performance to enhance loading speed and overall user experience.

Required Qualifications
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery is essential. Solid experience working with WordPress themes and page templates is required. Familiarity with the WordPress customizer, theme hierarchy, shortcodes, and basic plugin usage is necessary. Experience with drag-and-drop page builders such as Elementor or Gutenberg is expected. A strong understanding of mobile-first and responsive design principles is critical. Ability to meet accessibility standards, specifically WCAG 2.0 AA and AODA compliance, is required. Experience with Git or other version control systems is important. Candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while taking ownership of assigned tasks.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is preferred to ensure effective communication with the Canadian team. Basic knowledge of PHP is an advantage. Experience working with REST APIs or headless WordPress implementations is a plus. Familiarity with other content management systems such as Webflow, Wix, or Joomla will be considered an asset.

This contract role has a duration of three months, with a monthly salary ranging from Rs60,000 to Rs100,000 depending on experience. The position is fully remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work with an international team dedicated to delivering high-quality digital solutions.
