Frontend Engineer - Next.js & AI-First Development

Devappics is seeking a skilled Frontend Engineer for an initial two-month remote contract, with the potential for a longer-term role based on performance and business needs. This position requires an experienced developer capable of independently managing a modern production web application within an AI-first development environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with a cutting-edge frontend stack and leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity while maintaining full responsibility for code quality.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain responsive, production-quality web applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Implement and manage frontend state using libraries such as Zustand and TanStack Query.
- Build reusable component architectures and handle complex forms, validation, and authentication flows.
- Integrate APIs and manage asynchronous data effectively.
- Utilize Stripe.js or similar payment integration tools where applicable.
- Employ AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code and OpenAI Codex for code implementation, debugging, refactoring, testing, and accelerating development cycles.
- Collaborate remotely with the engineering team through daily meetings and maintain clear communication.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and contribute to continuous improvement of the codebase and development processes.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1–2 years of professional frontend development experience.
- Strong proficiency with React, Next.js (App Router), and TypeScript.
- Experience with Tailwind CSS for styling and frontend tooling such as ESLint, Prettier, and pnpm.
- Familiarity with React Hook Form, Zod for validation, and Day.js for date handling.
- Solid understanding of API integration and asynchronous data handling.
- Proven ability to build responsive and production-ready web applications.
- Experience with frontend state management and reusable component design.
- Comfortable working with Git and navigating existing codebases.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication skills suitable for remote teamwork.
- Demonstrated experience or willingness to work in an AI-first development environment, using AI tools responsibly and effectively beyond simple code generation.
