Full Stack Engineer

Better It for Less is seeking a skilled Full Stack Developer with expertise in WordPress, Laravel, React.js, and Next.js to join our remote team. This full-time role requires a mid-level professional with 3 to 5+ years of experience, working Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM US Central Time. The ideal candidate will independently manage the full development lifecycle—from gathering requirements and designing database architecture to coding, testing, and deployment. We value developers who combine strong technical skills with a good sense of UI/UX, actively leverage AI-powered development tools, and quickly adapt to emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

- Convert Figma designs into responsive and visually accurate WordPress websites using Elementor and custom development techniques.
- Develop modern web applications with React.js, Next.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Build scalable and secure backend systems using PHP and Laravel frameworks.
- Design and optimize database schemas, relationships, migrations, and queries across MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, and Supabase.
- Create and integrate REST APIs, third-party services, authentication mechanisms, and payment gateways.
- Customize WordPress themes, plugins, Elementor components, and add dynamic functionalities.
- Develop admin dashboards, internal tools, and custom business applications.
- Independently debug, optimize, maintain, and deploy applications ensuring high performance and security.
- Utilize AI development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, research, and automation while maintaining code quality and security.
- Ensure responsive design, application performance, security, and maintainable code standards.
- Research and implement new technologies aligned with project requirements.

Required Qualifications

- Strong proficiency in frontend technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React.js, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
- Experience translating Figma designs into functional, user-friendly interfaces with a solid understanding of UI/UX principles such as typography, spacing, and visual consistency.
- Extensive hands-on experience with WordPress and Elementor, including Figma-to-WordPress conversions, theme and plugin customization, and Squarespace website development and optimization.
- Solid backend development skills in PHP and Laravel, with expertise in REST API development, authentication, authorization, role-based access control, and backend architecture.
- Proven ability to design and manage databases using MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, and Supabase, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, constraints, and migrations.
- Familiarity with development tools such as Git/GitHub, API testing tools like Postman, AI coding assistants (e.g., ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot), basic Linux/server management, and deployment processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take end-to-end ownership of features and projects.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Skills

- Experience with WooCommerce, headless WordPress, Node.js, Express.js, Docker, Redis, and caching mechanisms.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and Vercel for deployment and hosting.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks including PHPUnit, Pest, Vitest, or Playwright.
- Understanding of technical SEO, accessibility standards, and Core Web Vitals.
- Experience integrating AI APIs and building SaaS products, CRM systems, or internal automation tools.
