Full Stack Engineer

Cogent Labs is looking for a Full Stack Engineer with a solid background in backend development using Python frameworks such as Django, FastAPI, or Flask, along with practical experience in frontend technologies like React.js or Next.js. This full-time, on-site position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic engineering environment where ownership and delivery are highly valued. The successful candidate will be involved in building production-ready backend systems and APIs, while also contributing to frontend development as needed.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems primarily using Python and Django.
- Build and manage RESTful APIs, preferably utilizing Django REST Framework.
- Work with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including database design and query optimization.
- Integrate backend services with frontend applications developed in React.js or Next.js.
- Support frontend development tasks when required to ensure seamless user experiences.
- Maintain code quality through adherence to best practices, thorough code reviews, and comprehensive documentation.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and scalability challenges.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, QA, and product management.

Required Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years of professional experience in software development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python, particularly Django or equivalent frameworks.
- Proven ability to design and consume RESTful APIs.
- Solid understanding of database design and query writing, with a preference for PostgreSQL.
- At least one year of practical frontend experience using React.js or Next.js.
- Familiarity with Git and version control workflows.
- Good grasp of backend architecture and development best practices.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with Django REST Framework (DRF) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Next.js concepts such as Server-Side Rendering (SSR) and Static Site Generation (SSG).
- Exposure to containerization tools like Docker and cloud platforms, especially AWS.
- Understanding of scalable system design principles to support growth and performance.
