Mechanical Engineer

Position is responsible for the application of engineering principles and analytical techniques. Establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products. Functions performed may include determining the machines, equipment, tools, sequence of operations necessary to perform production and assembly operations, recommending the design of production machines and other plant equipment, advising and assisting vendors with design problems in connection with tools, gauges, and equipment designed for use in manufacturing. Knowledge of general assembly operations, laser marking, electronic assembly and testing preferred.

Job Purpose:

Organize and manage multiple projects
Create design packages and engineering release for manufacturing
Provide support to manufacturing department
Create concept drawings for customer review

Duties:

Design and detail components and assemblies
Prepare release packages for the manufacturing department (machining prints, Fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, BOM, assembly instructions, test documents).
Prototype design and development
Continuous review of design and manufacturing processes and recommend improvements/tooling/fixtures etc.
Select and specify required purchased components when required
Liaison between manufacturing department and engineering

Required Skills:

Degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing or 3- 5 years’ Experience in Sheet metal fabrication/ Manufacturing
Proficient in Autodesk Inventor 2008+ and AutoCAD
Good communication skills.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Desire to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with flexibility to “wear multiple hats”
Self-motivated designer with little need of direction and guidance
