GIMP Specialist

In this hourly, remote contractor position, you will serve as a GIMP Specialist (Subject Matter Expert) responsible for creating realistic and challenging computer-based tasks using GIMP and related image-editing workflows. Your role involves designing practical GIMP tasks, clearly documenting them in SuperAnnotate, ensuring your technical setup supports the task requirements, and recording yourself performing these tasks on your computer. The tasks you develop may include image cropping, resizing, retouching, color correction, working with layers, masks, selections, text overlays, transparency, filters, exports, background removal, graphic edits, or preparing images for web, social media, or design purposes. Your contributions will support the training of advanced AI models by demonstrating how real users complete image-editing workflows.

Key Responsibilities

- Create realistic GIMP tasks: Develop challenging and practical tasks executable on GIMP, then document each task clearly within SuperAnnotate.
- Prepare the work environment: Ensure your setup is fully equipped, including having GIMP installed, necessary image files ready, and any references or resources prepared before recording.
- Record task execution: Capture yourself performing the GIMP tasks on your computer, following project guidelines to ensure workflows are clear, complete, and realistic.
- Document task context: Provide comprehensive context, including task objectives, detailed steps, files, commands, and notes so reviewers fully understand the task and its completion.
- Demonstrate practical software use: Complete workflows involving essential GIMP functions such as layers, masks, selections, cropping, resizing, color adjustments, text tools, transparency, filters, and export formats.
- Maintain submission quality: Review your recordings and documentation carefully before submission to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with project standards.

Required Qualifications

- Proven hands-on experience using GIMP for image editing tasks such as photo correction, layers, masks, selections, retouching, graphic editing, and exporting images.
- Proficiency in English at B2 level or higher to comprehend project instructions, document tasks clearly, and communicate effectively with the project team.
- Comfortable navigating computer systems, managing image files, operating design software, and recording workflows.
- Ability to design realistic and challenging GIMP tasks that reflect actual use cases from design, photo editing, marketing, administration, education, or content creation.
- Strong understanding of GIMP fundamentals including layers, selections, masks, cropping, resizing, color adjustments, text tools, transparency, filters, and export formats.
- Capability to ensure your technical setup supports all task requirements, including having GIMP installed, assets prepared, and any necessary fonts or resources available prior to recording.
- High attention to detail in preparing tasks, executing workflows, and verifying that recordings are complete and understandable.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to consistently deliver quality work in a remote, hourly contractor role across different time zones.
