The Grants and Projects Associate plays a vital role in supporting the Centre for Business and Society (CBS) by enhancing its research and outreach impact through effective grant acquisition, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement. This position focuses on identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, developing competitive proposals, and ensuring the smooth execution of CBS initiatives that align with LUMS’ strategic goals and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By managing grants efficiently and overseeing programme planning, delivery, and monitoring, the associate directly contributes to the Centre’s visibility, growth, and overall impact.

Key Responsibilities:
Identify and monitor national and international funding opportunities that align with CBS’s thematic priorities. Develop and coordinate Expressions of Interest (EOIs), proposals, budgets, and related documentation in collaboration with faculty members and the LUMS Office of Research. Manage the entire grant lifecycle, including concept development, submission, award processing, reporting, and compliance. Support the implementation of CBS projects, student engagement programmes, and outreach events. Maintain communication with donors, partners, and internal stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and resource mobilisation. Supervise interns or volunteers and assist with CBS communications, reports, and publications as required.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s (Hons) or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognised institution is essential.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in grant writing, project coordination, or managing donor-funded programmes is preferred. Experience within academic, research, or development organisations is advantageous. Familiarity with the full grant cycle, proposal development processes, and initiatives aligned with the SDGs will be considered a strong asset.

Knowledge & Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess strong writing and communication skills necessary for grant and proposal development. Excellent research and analytical abilities are required to identify and interpret funding opportunities effectively. Project management and coordination skills, including the ability to multitask and manage time efficiently, are critical. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with database or portal systems such as GAMES are expected. The role demands strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Behaviours:
Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and accountability in all interactions. A proactive, solution-oriented approach combined with a willingness to learn is essential. The ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments while maintaining positive working relationships is important. The associate must uphold the values of CBS and LUMS, including inclusivity, social responsibility, and academic excellence. Adaptability to dynamic work environments and the capacity to manage competing priorities with composure are key behavioural traits for success in this role.
