Wise, a global technology company dedicated to transforming how money moves and is managed worldwide, is seeking a senior analytics professional to establish and lead the analytics and technical reporting capabilities within Core Compliance. This role is pivotal in translating complex compliance processes into reliable data products, driving delivery across teams, and enhancing the organization’s ability to monitor, analyze, and report on compliance activities. The successful candidate will work closely with leadership and cross-functional partners to build and maintain a robust analytics repository, ensuring alignment with Wise’s broader analytics best practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the technical foundation for Core Compliance analytics by designing and implementing the analytics repository and delivery framework. Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to utilize tools such as dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, and Lightdash effectively within the Wise environment.

- Make and document critical design decisions covering data models, transformations, orchestration, reporting, and data governance aspects including source selection, data granularity, keys, and refresh strategies.

- Establish and maintain development standards including GitHub workflows, automated testing, release procedures, access controls, and comprehensive documentation to support multiple use cases and ensure maintainability.

- Deliver and operate data models, pipelines, and reporting solutions by writing SQL and dbt models, orchestrating workflows in Airflow, and building reports in Lightdash. Manage the full lifecycle from discovery through to ongoing improvement.

- Address engineering challenges such as incremental data processing, historical accuracy, duplicate or late data handling, safe reprocessing, and query performance optimization.

- Define and implement data quality checks, completeness and freshness validations, failure notifications, and recovery procedures for Core Compliance data assets.

- Conduct ad hoc analysis and develop trusted metrics, reports, and dashboards that support monitoring, oversight, and operational decision-making within compliance teams.

- Translate compliance process concepts into explicit metric definitions and data models, accounting for exceptions and evolving requirements over time.

- Lead prioritization and delivery efforts by identifying gaps in monitoring and reporting capabilities, coordinating cross-team dependencies, and acting as the primary technical contact for Core Compliance analytics.

- Apply AI tools and agentic workflows responsibly to enhance analytics development, including code generation, testing, documentation, and data investigation, while ensuring quality and consistency.

Required Qualifications

- Advanced proficiency in SQL and strong data modeling skills with proven experience delivering reliable analytical models, pipelines, and operational reporting.

- Extensive hands-on experience with dbt or equivalent transformation frameworks, workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, and cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake. Familiarity with Lightdash is also essential.

- Demonstrated ability to establish or significantly improve analytics repositories and delivery processes, including GitHub collaboration, automated testing, code review, deployment, and documentation.

- Deep technical expertise in data quality management, troubleshooting, and performance optimization, with the ability to clearly explain design decisions and their implications.

- Proven track record of managing ambiguous business problems through to implementation, setting priorities, and influencing both technical and non-technical stakeholders without formal authority.

- Strong analytical judgment in defining meaningful metrics, validating data, and communicating insights and limitations effectively.

- Applied knowledge of AI-assisted analytics and agentic development workflows, including responsible verification and collaborative use of generated outputs.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Experience in Core Compliance functions such as monitoring, testing, regulatory reporting, incident, and breach management is highly valuable. Familiarity with data products supporting controls, evidence retention, and access requirements is a plus. Additional expertise in Financial Crime compliance is beneficial where relevant.
