The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), a leading not-for-profit healthcare institution in Karachi, Pakistan, is seeking a Head Nurse for its Paediatric Oncology department. Key Responsibilities
- Manage 24/7 staffing schedules in accordance with hospital standards to ensure continuous, quality, and safe patient care, remaining available for shifts as required.
- Oversee the execution of quality patient care, ensuring timely physician rounds, accurate monitoring of treatment plans, and adherence to patient regimens.
- Engage regularly with patients and their families to address complaints and resolve care-related concerns effectively.
- Collaborate with support service departments to maintain and improve quality care and meet patient needs.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary rounds and quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing unit processes.
- Develop, implement, and monitor unit-based standards, goals, objectives, and priorities to align with hospital policies.
- Foster creativity, initiative, and innovation among nursing staff, providing mentorship and supporting professional development.
- Monitor credentialing and licensing requirements for nursing personnel to ensure compliance.
- Assess staff learning needs and ensure completion of Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) and Competency-Based Orientation (CBO) programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from an accredited institution; a Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Valid registration with the Pakistan Nursing Council.
- Minimum of four years of relevant nursing experience, including at least two years in a nursing management role.
- Certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Safe Medication Administration, Aseptic Techniques, Intravenous (I/V) Cannulation, and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including mornings, evenings, and nights.
