Job Summary
The Career Counsellor – Head of Department (HOD) will lead and manage the Career Services Department, providing strategic direction and hands-on counselling to support students in making informed academic and career decisions. This role combines leadership, program development, student engagement, and industry collaboration to enhance student outcomes and employability.
Key Responsibilities 1. Department Leadership & Strategy- Develop and implement the overall career counselling strategy aligned with institutional goals.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the career counselling team.
- Set departmental KPIs and monitor performance outcomes.
- Manage departmental budgets and resources.
- Provide one-on-one and group career counselling sessions.
- Guide students on academic pathways, career choices, and personal development.
- Conduct psychometric assessments and interpret results.
- Support students with goal setting, career planning, and decision-making.
- Design and deliver workshops on career planning, CV writing, interview skills, and job readiness.
- Organize career fairs, university visits, and industry interaction sessions.
- Develop structured career development programs across grade levels.
- Build and maintain relationships with universities, employers, and industry professionals.
- Facilitate internships, job placements, and networking opportunities.
- Stay updated on labor market trends and higher education opportunities.
- Track student progress, placement statistics, and counselling outcomes.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management.
- Maintain confidential student records and counselling documentation.
- Conduct orientation sessions and workshops for parents.
- Collaborate with academic staff to integrate career guidance into curriculum.
- Provide training to teachers on basic career mentoring.
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, Career Counselling, or a related field.
- Certification in career counselling or psychometric assessments (preferred).
- 5–6 years of experience in career counselling, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of local and international education systems and career pathways.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
