This role will lead the technical vision and architecture of Monnify, Moniepoint’s online payment acceptance platform that connects merchants to card networks, banks, and payment aggregators. The platform ensures transaction reliability, routing efficiency, throughput, and a superior developer experience, while expanding internationally with multi-currency and multi-market capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the complete technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Monnify platform across all functional areas.
- Lead multiple engineering teams through their managers, setting quality standards and enhancing organizational capabilities.
- Manage the end-to-end developer experience, including APIs, SDKs, documentation, and ease of integration.
- Drive platform evolution toward multi-currency support and international scalability.
- Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and security within a regulated environment.
- Collaborate closely with product, commercial, and operations teams to align technical investments with business goals.
- Hire, mentor, and develop engineering managers and senior engineers to support team growth and performance.
Required Qualifications
- Over 10 years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on, production-level experience writing and shipping Java code.
- At least 5 years managing engineering managers and leading multiple teams through other leaders rather than direct individual contributor management.
- Experience in payments, fintech, or financial services, with a strong understanding of payment flows and regulatory compliance.
- Deep expertise in API-first products, developer platforms, and API integration.
- Proven success leading multiple engineering teams in a scaling organization.
- Strong backend engineering skills focused on high-throughput, distributed transactional systems.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
