Head of Linehaul-Logistics

Daraz Express is seeking an experienced strategic and operational leader to manage its Linehaul function. This key role involves designing, optimizing, and overseeing the nationwide inter-city transportation network that connects Sort Centers with Last Mile operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and reliable movement of packages between hubs while maintaining high service level agreements (SLAs). This position requires extensive expertise in fleet management, vendor negotiation, and network planning, particularly within the e-commerce or third-party logistics (3PL) sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Network Strategy & Planning: Develop and continuously refine the national linehaul network to balance speed, cost, and capacity effectively. Create daily and weekly trunking schedules based on volume forecasts from Sort Centers. Identify opportunities to consolidate routes, utilize back-hauls, and enhance hub-to-hub efficiency.

Vendor & Fleet Management: Oversee relationships with third-party logistics providers and private fleet owners. Lead tendering processes, negotiate contracts, and establish competitive rates for linehaul services. Monitor vendor performance through key indicators such as on-time departures and arrivals, vehicle utilization, and damage rates.

Operational Excellence & Cost Control: Hold profit and loss responsibility for the Linehaul department. Drive cost reduction initiatives to lower cost per package through continuous improvement efforts. Implement real-time tracking and visibility solutions for all inbound and outbound trunk movements. Reduce idle time at sort centers by improving scheduling and dock management coordination.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Sort Center Heads to align inbound and outbound flows with sorting capacity. Work with Last Mile teams to ensure smooth and timely handover of packages for final delivery. Collaborate with Procurement to standardize vehicle specifications and fuel management policies.

Team Leadership & Compliance: Build and mentor a high-performing team of Linehaul Managers and Coordinators. Ensure all operations comply with local transport regulations, safety standards, and insurance requirements. Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making and accountability throughout the team.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is essential. Candidates must have at least 10 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role focused on linehaul or freight management. A proven track record in e-commerce, 3PL, or retail distribution networks is required. Experience managing large-scale fleets of 50 or more vehicles or overseeing multi-vendor ecosystems is necessary. Strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and GPS tracking technologies are critical. Excellent negotiation and vendor management abilities are expected. The role demands the ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, along with demonstrated leadership and change management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

An MBA or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management is highly desirable.
