Are you an accounting student who wants to know what it is really like to work in a professional accounting department before you graduate?

Help Connection, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2012, is currently testing a new Practical Accounting Training Program designed to give accounting students a mirror copy of an actual accounting work environment while they are still in school.

The concept is simple: learn accounting in school—and practice working as an accountant while you are still a student.

The program is 100% online and uses realistic accounting data, business transactions, and workplace situations. Rather than simply listening to lectures, you will be expected to work through accounting assignments and problems similar to those encountered by professional accounting teams.

Responsibilities

Assist in maintaining and updating financial records and ledgers with accuracy.
Support the preparation and analysis of financial reports using Microsoft Excel.
Help perform account reconciliations and verify transactions for completeness and correctness.
Maintain organized documentation of accounting information for audit and compliance purposes.
Collaborate with the accounting team to perform routine data entry and clerical duties.
Use Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, OneDrive, Excel, and Word to manage and share accounting resources.
Apply understanding of accounting principles to support various accounting processes and tasks.
Prepare and maintain spreadsheets for budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Participate in the Practical Accounting Training (PAT) Program and prepare for its Assessment Test.
Commit a minimum of 10 hours per week to hands-on practical training to develop professional skills.
