This role involves supporting food preparation and service activities within a cafeteria and official catering environments, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and customer service. The position requires handling various food items, maintaining sanitation of kitchen and dining areas, assisting with meal assembly and distribution, and adhering strictly to food safety protocols. The individual will also interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff, contributing to a safe and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash, peel, chop, and portion fruits, vegetables, and other food items as required.
- Clean and sanitize washing surfaces, sinks, preparation and service counters, and all kitchen and bakery equipment including pots, pans, utensils, and exhaust hoods.
- Maintain cleanliness in cafeterias by washing and cleaning tables, chairs, utensils, and other items to ensure a pleasant experience for visitors.
- Prepare and serve beverages (both hot and cold), snacks, and food in the cafeteria and during official catering events as needed.
- Assemble patient meal trays accurately and manage food waste by disposing of garbage from the processing area while ensuring compliance with Food Safety Department (FSD) cleaning standards.
- Transport bulk food and trolleys, assist with the physical arrangement of the cafeteria, and support meal service during official events or regular cafeteria operations.
- Assist with general housekeeping tasks such as mopping and sweeping floors, refilling condiment bottles, and helping with the presentation of dishes to maintain a clean and organized environment.
- Deliver bulk food to cafeteria and service outlets, including transportation, physical setup, and serving food when required.
- Follow strict food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe kitchen and dining environment.
- Interact professionally and courteously with patients, visitors, and hospital staff to provide excellent customer service.
- Perform any additional tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor to support kitchen and cafeteria operations.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in food preparation, kitchen sanitation, or a related field is essential.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact courteously with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
- Physical ability to handle tasks such as lifting, carrying bulk food items, and standing for extended periods.
