Hydrogen Compressor Operator

SCADA Industries (Pvt.) Ltd. is looking for experienced and safety-focused Hydrogen Compressor Operators to join their team at the Port Qasim facility in Karachi. The role involves operating, monitoring, and maintaining hydrogen compression equipment and related systems to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. Candidates will be responsible for maintaining operating parameters within approved limits and promptly reporting any equipment abnormalities or safety concerns. This is a full-time position requiring 1 to 3 years of relevant experience and a technical qualification such as a DAE or Bachelor's degree.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor hydrogen compressors following approved procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
- Continuously track operating parameters including pressure, temperature, flow rate, vibration, and overall compressor performance.
- Conduct pre-startup checks and routine inspections of compressors, valves, pipelines, gauges, and auxiliary equipment.
- Detect hydrogen leaks and abnormal conditions using approved detection tools and safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed operating logs, pressure readings, equipment checklists, and shift handover documentation.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and safety teams for inspections, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Immediately report unusual noises, vibrations, temperature changes, pressure fluctuations, leaks, or equipment malfunctions.
- Adhere strictly to permit-to-work procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and site-specific emergency response plans.
- Ensure safety interlocks, alarms, ventilation, and gas detection systems are operational and effective.
- Maintain cleanliness and comply with all company safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Respond promptly to equipment alarms and emergencies as directed by supervisors.
- Perform additional operational duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or a related technical discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience operating compressors, handling gases, or working in process plants or similar industrial environments.
- Solid understanding of industrial compressors, pressure systems, valves, gauges, and basic process control parameters.
- Awareness of hydrogen’s flammability risks, gas leak detection techniques, and industrial process safety requirements.
- Ability to maintain accurate operational records and communicate effectively during shift transitions.
- Willingness to work in an industrial plant setting and comply with shift schedules.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically with hydrogen or other industrial gas compressors.
- Familiarity with reciprocating or centrifugal compressors, depending on the installed equipment.
- Basic troubleshooting skills and knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
- Training in industrial safety, gas detection, permit-to-work systems, or emergency response procedures.
