We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Import Executive to oversee the complete import process along with managing banking and trade finance activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of import operations, ensuring smooth clearance, timely delivery, and accurate handling of related banking documentation. This role requires close collaboration with suppliers, banks, clearing agents, and internal departments to maintain efficient and compliant import procedures within the chemical manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire import cycle from Purchase Order or Indent issuance through to clearance and delivery.
- Prepare and administer Letters of Credit (LCs), Bank Contracts, Pre-Arrival Declarations (PADs), import documents, and other banking instruments.
- Liaise with banks for LC openings, amendments, document retirement, payments, and import financing arrangements.
- Monitor LC maturities, PADs, bank charges, and import-related payments with consistent follow-up.
- Coordinate effectively with suppliers, banks, clearing agents, freight forwarders, and shipping companies to ensure timely shipment and clearance.
- Review shipping documents including invoices, Bills of Lading (BLs), packing lists, certificates, and Goods Declarations (GDs) for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Track shipment status, estimated time of arrivals (ETAs), vessel arrivals, customs clearance, and delivery to warehouse or factory locations.
- Maintain organized records of import files, banking documents, and shipment statuses for audit and reporting purposes.
- Work closely with Accounts and Finance teams to reconcile landed costs, payments, and financing needs.
- Prepare and submit daily or weekly reports on import and banking status to management.
- Ensure timely completion of all import documentation and proactively resolve any operational issues that arise.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in import operations, trade finance, and dealing with banks is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of import documentation and banking procedures.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and tasks simultaneously with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
