Gillani International is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Import Officer / Assistant Manager Import to oversee the complete import process. The ideal candidate will manage all aspects of import operations, ensuring smooth coordination between suppliers, freight forwarders, clearing agents, and internal teams. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle import documentation and banking procedures efficiently. The position is based in Lahore and is open to female candidates only.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire import cycle from Proforma Invoice (PI) to the arrival of goods.
- Coordinate with foreign suppliers, freight forwarders, clearing agents, and banks to ensure timely shipments and document dispatch.
- Prepare and maintain all import-related documents, including PI, Commercial Invoice (CI), Packing List (PL), Bill of Lading (BL), Goods Declaration (GD), Letters of Credit (LC), and Telegraphic Transfers (TT).
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time shipment and receipt of necessary documents.
- Liaise with clearing agents to facilitate customs clearance and delivery of goods.
- Maintain an import tracker and costing sheet to calculate landed costs accurately.
- Handle banking operations related to imports, such as LC opening, amendments, retirement, and TT payments.
- Ensure compliance with regulations set by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Customs, and import policies.
- Maintain proper filing and documentation of all import records.
- Coordinate effectively with Accounts, Sales, and Warehouse teams to support smooth operations.
- Assist management by preparing reports and performing other assigned tasks as required.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com), Business Administration (BBA), or MBA with a focus on Supply Chain or Finance.
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience in import operations is mandatory.
- Industry Experience: Preferably from indenting, trading, distribution, or electronics sectors.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of import procedures, Letters of Credit (LC), Incoterms, and HS Codes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Personal Traits: Organized, proactive, deadline-oriented, and trustworthy.
