We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional for the position of Incharge / Deputy Manager (PMO) on a project-based contract. The role involves overseeing shipbuilding projects with a focus on technical management, supervision, and quality assurance. The successful candidate will work closely with shipyards, subcontractors, designers, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure project milestones are met and standards are maintained. This position requires regular or need-based attendance at shipyards and related sites. The initial contract duration is up to two years or until project completion, with the possibility of extension based on mutual agreement.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage ship design, newbuilding, and shipyard activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and timelines.
- Conduct and oversee Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Harbor Acceptance Tests (HATs), inclining experiments, and sea trials.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, deviation reports, risk assessments, and provide milestone recommendations to project stakeholders.
- Review and assess General Arrangement (GA) drawings, structural designs, stability calculations, cargo securing plans, and production drawings.
- Ensure adherence to class rules, International Maritime Organization (IMO) conventions such as SOLAS and MARPOL, flag state requirements, and shipbuilding standards.
- Coordinate with shipyards, subcontractors, designers, and OEMs to resolve technical issues and maintain quality control throughout the construction process.
- Monitor hull structure, block fabrication, erection, dimensional control, welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), and coatings to uphold construction integrity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture, Shipbuilding, Marine, or Mechanical Engineering from an HEC-recognized institute.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in the maritime or shipbuilding industry.
- At least 5 years of direct experience in ship design, newbuilding projects, shipyard supervision, technical consultancy, or ship construction.
- Proven expertise in conducting FATs, HATs, inclining experiments, and sea trials.
- Strong ability to prepare detailed technical documentation including reports and risk assessments.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Willingness and availability for regular or as-needed site visits to shipyards, subcontractors, designers, and OEMs.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience working with commercial vessels, particularly container and feeder vessels.
- Familiarity with vessels of approximately 1000 TEU capacity or above.
- Demonstrable track record in supervising or technically managing at least one vessel newbuilding project.
- In-depth knowledge of hull structure, block fabrication, erection processes, dimensional control, welding, NDT, and coatings.
- Working knowledge of class society rules, IMO conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL), flag state requirements, and shipbuilding standards.
