Industrial Automation Engineer – Commissioning

S. A. HAMID & Co. is seeking a proactive and skilled Automation Engineer who thrives in hands-on roles involving plant commissioning, troubleshooting, testing, and ensuring systems are operational. The ideal candidate will be actively involved in bringing automation systems online and resolving technical challenges in industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute commissioning of PLCs, HMI/SCADA systems, VFDs, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Conduct I/O checks, loop checks, functional testing, and support start-up activities.
- Troubleshoot automation and control system issues at industrial plants to ensure smooth operation.
- Modify PLC logic as needed during the commissioning phase to optimize system performance.
- Test communication protocols between PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, drives, and field devices.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and plant start-up processes.
- Collaborate effectively with electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and client teams to coordinate commissioning efforts.
- Prepare detailed commissioning reports, punch lists, and technical documentation to maintain project records.
- Travel to industrial sites and manage project assignments as required, adapting to dynamic work environments.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in automation and commissioning roles.
- Practical knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience working with PLC brands such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Delta, or similar systems.
- Understanding of HMI/SCADA systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), instrumentation, and industrial communication networks.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly in field environments.
- Willingness to work on-site, travel frequently, and engage in project-based assignments.
