Looking for a System Administrator to maintain, upgrade and manage our software, hardware and networks. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. Should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. Should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users. Your goal will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently
Responsibilities:
- Install and configure software and hardware
- Manage network servers and technology tools
- Set up accounts and workstations
- Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
- Troubleshoot issues and outages
- Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
- Upgrade systems with new releases and models
- Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
- Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
- Hands-on experience with Virtualization softwares (ESX, VMware)
- Maintain network and application servers such as File Servers, VPN gateways, PFSense and Antivirus
- Installation and configuration of Email server
- Strong understanding of working of OpenLDAP and Linux based user access restrictions
- Source code management and manage user access
- Maintain VoIP PBX services
- Experience with endpoint security and desktop management
- Monitor the servers and services running over the network (Zabbix, Nagios)
- Communicate with users when needed
- Maintain complete technical documentation
- Suggest improvements to system performance, capacity and scalability
Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of Linux Servers, desktop Operating Systems & MacOS
- Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
- Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
- Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
- Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl or other language
- Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms (Linux/MacOS/Windows)
- Familiarity with access control models and network security
- Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g Python, Perl)
- Sharp troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently & with team
- Organizational and mentoring skills
- University degree in Computer Science or a related subject
- Professional Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)) or equivalent certification will be a plus
Minimum Experience:
3 – 5 years’ experience in a relevant field.
