We are looking for a motivated and experienced Matron Nurse who can bring enthusiasm and energy to the Matron Nurse role within Institute of Regenerative Medicine. This high-profile role will also hold Divisional responsibilities; you will therefore need excellent influencing and negotiation skills and have the ability to build productive, therapeutic relationships with others. The successful candidate will have responsibility for leading and developing nursing care within the Emergency Department in particular and overall Hospital in general, leading on quality; patient experience, patient safety, clinical governance and regulatory compliance.

Job Description:

Management/Leadership

•         Supervises and coordinates nursing activities: Assigns duties and coordinates nursing service.

•         Evaluates nursing activities to ensure patient care, staff relations, and efficiency of service.

•         Observes nursing care and visits patients to ensure that nursing care is carried out as directed, and treatment administered in accordance with physician's instructions.

•         Directs preparation and maintenance of patients' clinical records.

•         Inspects rooms and wards for cleanliness and comfort.

•         Acting as spokesperson for the resident as necessary

•         Support the Management in the maintenance of rosters, ensuring skill mix is acceptable and requested leave is authorized.

•         Work with the Management to ensure that Clinical Audits are undertaken to maintain high standards.

•         Maintain an awareness budgetary controls to maximize cost effectiveness and cost efficiency

•         Participate in the On Call rota

•         Ensure there is ongoing supervision and appraisal of nursing care staff

•         Order and maintain stock control of medical supplies

•         Produce accurate and complete records of activities and communications consistent with legislation, policies and procedures

•         Investigates and resolves complaints, or refers unusual problems to superior.

Clinical:

•         Accompanies physician on rounds, and keeps informed of special orders concerning patients.

•         Participates in orientation and training of personnel.

•         Orders, or directs ordering of drugs, solutions, and equipment, and maintains records on narcotics.

•         Contribute to the effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care,

•         Ensuring that best practice is followed.

•         Develop and maintain accurate and up to date ER policies

•         Support the nursing team to ensure that they are competent to practice encompassing the policies and procedures within the Department

•         Safely administer prescribed medication and monitor effects there in compliance with legal and internal policies and procedures

•         Participate in collaborative decision making within the nursing team

•         Undertake a clinical ‘hands on shift’ on a wing once a week

Skills:

You'll need to be well organized, confident and able to cope in potentially challenging situations. Leadership and management skills are also important as you will supervise and lead a team of community staff nurses and healthcare assistants in the delivery of care. Matron Nurse Requirements:

•         Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) certification / License.

•         Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

•         Preference would be given to candidates who have Certification / diploma in Emergency Response and/or Crisis Prevention and Intervention.

•         Able to work under high pressure.

•         Attention to detail.

•         Good organizational skills.

•         Excellent written and verbal communication.

Experience:

•         Three years’ experience in ER

•         Recent clinical experience of at least six months within the last 24 months
