Our client, Unique Batteries, is seeking an experienced Internal Audit and Taxation Manager based in Hyderabad. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of relevant experience, primarily within large-scale manufacturing environments, with a strong background in internal audit management, tax compliance, and risk mitigation. This role requires a qualified professional holding credentials such as CA, ACCA, ACMA, MBA Finance, or an equivalent certification. The successful candidate will lead audit planning, evaluate financial controls, and develop tax strategies to ensure compliance and support business objectives. Managing a team of three professionals, the manager will foster collaboration and uphold rigorous regulatory standards while providing insightful financial analysis and risk assessments to aid organizational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
*Internal Audit*
- Lead financial, operational, and internal control audits across various departments.
- Conduct audits of inventory, raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Review procurement, stores, production, sales, and recovery processes for compliance and efficiency.
- Evaluate financial controls, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and authorization protocols.
- Identify control weaknesses, financial leakages, and operational risks.
- Perform physical verification of stock and fixed assets.
- Investigate significant discrepancies and suspected irregularities.
- Prepare detailed audit reports for senior management review.
- Monitor the implementation and closure of audit observations.
- Develop and execute risk-based annual and periodic audit plans.
*Taxation Management*
- Oversee complete Income Tax and Sales Tax compliance for the company.
- Prepare, review, and ensure timely filing of Income Tax Returns, Sales Tax Returns, withholding statements, and other statutory filings.
- Ensure compliance with Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) regulations and relevant tax laws, including the Income Tax Ordinance and Sales Tax Act.
- Manage withholding tax processes, including deduction, deposit, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Handle provincial sales tax matters with authorities such as SRB, PRA, KPRA, and BRA.
- Manage advance tax, minimum tax, adjustable taxes, tax credits, exemptions, and refunds.
- Maintain reconciliation of tax returns with the general ledger, purchases, sales, imports, payroll, and financial statements.
- Ensure accurate tax treatment of imports, raw materials, capital assets, services, dealers, distributors, vendors, and contractors.
- Review tax implications of business transactions, contracts, and commercial arrangements prior to execution.
- Respond to FBR notices, assessments, audits, and monitoring proceedings.
- Coordinate with tax consultants and legal advisors on appeals, litigation, and tax authority interactions.
- Monitor updates to Finance Acts, SROs, circulars, and federal/provincial tax regulations, advising management on business impact.
- Develop and implement tax controls, SOPs, and compliance calendars.
- Identify lawful tax planning opportunities to optimize tax liabilities while maintaining compliance.
- Prepare periodic tax exposure, compliance, and management reports for senior leadership.
- Collaborate with Finance, Accounts, Procurement, Sales, Imports, HR, and Internal Audit teams on taxation matters.
Required Qualifications
- Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, ACMA, MBA Finance, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in internal audit and taxation, preferably in large manufacturing organizations.
- Strong knowledge of internal audit processes and manufacturing controls.
- Expertise in tax compliance, planning, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in ERP and accounting systems.
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and reporting skills.
- High integrity, independence, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
