Preferred Experience/Skills

  • Working experience of networking fundamentals & technologies related to routers, switches, LAN, MAN, WAN and CPE.
  • Ability to show expertise in administration, including configuration of networking, VM, system, and software installation, user management, system configuration, BASH or Python scripting, and system sizing
  • Working knowledge of Red Hat / CentOS Linux Servers. Good knowledge of Linux-PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules for Linux), SSH, SMTP, SNMP, NFS, and other Linux core services.
  • Update operational run books for applications, databases, systems, and networks
  • Knowledge of the suite of Internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP as well as networks and LANs.
  • Perform front line troubleshooting as related to applications and network systems.
  • Create and manage trouble tickets, resolving, assigning and escalating as appropriate for timely resolution and response
  • Responsible for the initial triage and determination of system faults and performance issues
  • Monitor service levels and take appropriate action to maintain service level agreements
  • Resolve critical system issues on a 24x7 basis including notification, escalation and coordination
  • Create and manage tickets and execute the major incident management process.
  • Work with support team(s) to determine resolution strategy and execute solution.
  • Escalate to Subject Matter Experts and production Supervisors as needed.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in networking and managing & maintaining LAN & WAN technologies and devices.
  • Knowledge of Linux operating system, Network management systems and other industry standard NOC technologies (i.e. SNMP, Traps, Syslog, SSH, TELNET, etc.), identifying and responding to alerts.
  • Knowledge of notification and escalation of events, work, hardware, telephony, and systems troubleshooting and support.
  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices for Service Delivery, including Change, Incident, and Problem management.
