The Program Officer under the supervision of the Program Manager ensures that project activities, goals, and objectives are successfully implemented and monitored; the prioritized technical sectors/areas are well coordinated into the overall programming and projects being implemented appropriately.

 Job Description Summarized Tasks:

Major Tasks includes following:

  • PO will be responsible for programmatic, planning, and administrative support for the IHP’s overall program areas that benefit the IHP’s program/project area;
  • PO will be responsible for writing of concept paper, proposals, success stories, case studies, report writing, periodic reports and annual reports;
  • Coordination and communication with IHP’s project and program teams, donors and community;
  • Field travel in IHP’s program and project areas; and
  • Any other task relevant to position or assigned by senior management

Job Description

As part of the Head Office team, working under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Program Officer will be responsible for

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and backstopping for assigned tasks, ensuring all program objectives and goals are met in compliance with donor regulations.
  • Work with field teams on project-related services and serve as the point of contact between assigned field offices.
  • Source and extend technical assistance, as needed.
  • Track project deliverables and supervise project performance in the assigned topics and/or geographic areas.
  • Prepare, review and/or edit regular project updates reports
  • Inform supervisor/management of any critical issues as they arise.
  • Frequent travel to project intervention areas to monitor program implementation and provide technical assistance.
  • Represent the team at meetings, conferences, and workshops, as needed.
  • Provide updates, reports, and critical analysis of the field and report to the Team lead.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure effective support to the field
  • Support and contribute to the development of Work plans and spending plans.
  • Analyze work plans against the project requirements.
  • Ensure adherence and compliance to IHP and donor policies and procedures.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Fundraising:
  • Preparation of concept papers, presentations, and documentation for donors;
  • Organization of various fundraising events for the NGO
  • Communication with donors and Head Office UK.
  • Preparation of reports for donors, government agencies, and the Trustees, as required.
  • Applicants will need to have at least a Master’s degree, at least 2 year of relevant work experience, strong communication skills, and, most importantly, excellent English writing and speaking skills.
  • An English writing test will be taken from any candidates who are shortlisted for interviews.
  • Experience in writing donor proposals and grant requests will be considered a strong asset in the selection process.
  • Applicants must also be team players who are willing to follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders, and who can lead independently when needed.
