Now advancing into an AI-driven era, Careem is seeking skilled IT Infrastructure Engineers to support and enhance its technology backbone. This role is pivotal in administering, maintaining, and optimizing Careem’s IT systems and network infrastructure to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, support, and manage IT infrastructure services and systems, including voice and data networks, MPLS, DPLC, wireless, and multisite mesh networks.
- Monitor and maintain all network layers (1 through 7) to provide comprehensive end-to-end support.
- Design and implement new network solutions or optimize existing networks to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Install, configure, and maintain network equipment such as routers, switches, SASE gateways, firewalls, WAN accelerators, aggregators, and wireless access points.
- Handle escalated incidents from the IT Service Desk, ensuring timely updates and resolution within SLA targets.
- Manage infrastructure changes through controlled, auditable processes, driving continuous improvement and successful project delivery.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices to recommend enhancements.
- Document network infrastructure including hardware/software inventories and network diagrams.
- Conduct root cause analysis for incidents, evaluating solutions and associated risks.
- Provide 24x7 second-line support and escalation, coordinating with internal teams and third-party vendors.
- Lead service reviews and validate new systems or changes before release.
- Identify and resolve single points of failure within the infrastructure.
- Support project teams with infrastructure-related changes and communicate project status effectively to management.
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and escalate critical issues promptly.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience as an IT Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Administrator, or Network Administrator in environments supporting 1000+ users.
- Strong expertise in datacenter management, unified communication suites, LAN/WAN, wireless networks, virtualization, and TCP/IP protocols.
- Proficiency in routing, switching, MPLS, firewalls, SASE networks, VPN technologies, and system monitoring tools.
- Experience with VMware ESX, vCenter, and other major virtualization platforms.
- Familiarity with open-source technologies such as Linux and VoIP telephony systems, including voice infrastructure fundamentals.
- Solid understanding of IT security tools, information governance, basic programming, database, and system design concepts.
- Experience integrating software-as-a-service (SaaS) and application integration solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Relevant certifications such as Network+, CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, MCITP, AWS or Azure certifications, Security+, and ITIL are highly desirable.
- Experience with next-generation firewalls, mobile device management (MDM), virtualization platforms (VMware, AWS), Active Directory, Single Sign-On (SSO), and SASE technologies.
- Knowledge of heterogeneous network environments and administration of platforms like Zscaler, JumpCloud, Sonus voice gateways, Genesis call center on-premise solutions, Cisco Meraki, and Orange MPLS is advantageous.
