The Desktop Support Engineer is essential in providing first-line technical support to end users by efficiently resolving hardware, software, and network issues. This role ensures uninterrupted business operations by promptly addressing IT incidents and service requests while maintaining excellent customer service and adhering to service level agreements (SLAs). The position involves both remote and onsite support, focusing on troubleshooting, maintaining IT assets, and managing user accounts.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary contact for IT incidents and service requests, delivering timely and effective support. Provide remote and onsite assistance to resolve issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals. Install, configure, and maintain Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications. Troubleshoot common software problems including Outlook, Teams, VPN connectivity, and web browsers. Assist users with password resets, account unlocks, and support for mobile devices and corporate applications. Install and replace hardware components such as RAM, SSDs, keyboards, mice, batteries, adapters, and cables. Conduct hardware diagnostics and coordinate warranty claims with vendors when necessary. Install approved software, apply updates, and remove malware using authorized security tools. Configure printers and drivers to ensure smooth printing services. Troubleshoot network-related issues including LAN connectivity, Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, and DHCP. Verify switch port connectivity and test network cables to maintain network integrity. Manage user accounts through Active Directory, ensuring proper access and security compliance.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience in desktop support and troubleshooting hardware and software issues is essential. Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office suite is required. Familiarity with network troubleshooting, including LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, and DHCP, is necessary. Experience with Active Directory user management is expected. Ability to perform hardware diagnostics and coordinate with vendors for warranty claims is important. Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach are critical. Candidates must be willing and able to work onsite during the evening shift from 6:00 PM to 3:00 AM at the head office located in Bahria Phase 4, Rawalpindi.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience supporting mobile devices and corporate applications is advantageous. Knowledge of malware removal and security tools is preferred. Hands-on experience with printer configuration and driver installation is beneficial.
