Restaurant Accountant

Jamil's Restaurant is seeking a detail-oriented and proficient Restaurant Accountant with a strong background in finance and accounting principles to join our team. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor or Master of Commerce degree, preferably with a focus on Finance, and brings at least three years of relevant experience in the hospitality or restaurant industry. This role requires expertise in cost control, payroll processing, and inventory management, with advanced skills in MS Excel and proficiency in accounting software or ERP systems. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing food costing, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, all while supporting the restaurant's operational and financial objectives. This position does not involve team management but requires collaboration across departments to achieve financial accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records specific to restaurant operations, including daily sales, expenses, and profit margins.
Manage cost control measures by analyzing food and beverage costs, identifying discrepancies, and implementing strategies to optimize spending.
Process payroll accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with relevant labor laws and company policies.
Use accounting software and ERP systems to record transactions, reconcile accounts, and generate financial reports.
Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans related to restaurant performance and cost management.
Conduct regular audits of inventory and food costing data to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize waste.
Collaborate with chefs, managers, and suppliers to track and manage inventory that impacts food costing and ordering.
Analyze financial data to provide insights into profit margins and suggest improvements to enhance restaurant profitability.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and regulatory frameworks related to financial reporting and tax obligations.
Utilize advanced MS Excel skills to create detailed spreadsheets and financial models for reporting and decision-making.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments.
Assist management in understanding financial reports and the financial health of the restaurant operations.
Stay updated on industry trends, financial regulations, and accounting best practices relevant to the restaurant business.
