Java Technical Lead

We are seeking a Senior Java Technical Lead to join a leading fintech platform. The successful candidate will take charge of leading Java development teams, shaping the technical architecture, and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance microservices-based applications. This role demands strong hands-on expertise in Java development, system architecture, and technical leadership within a fast-paced fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design and development of Java microservices focused on payments, banking, lending, or digital wallet products.
- Define and enforce architecture, coding standards, and best practices across the development team.
- Conduct design and code reviews to maintain high-quality output.
- Collaborate with the Product Owner to break down business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Mentor engineers to elevate the team’s overall performance.
- Design and review REST and SOAP APIs, event-driven integrations, and third-party connections, ensuring compliance with fintech security standards such as PCI DSS, PSD2, KYC/AML, and GDPR.
- Enhance system performance, resilience, and observability across services.
- Work closely with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and release management.
- Participate actively in sprint planning, estimation, and delivery tracking within a Scrum framework.
- Lead incident response efforts and conduct root cause analysis for production issues.
- Identify technical risks and debt early, communicating them effectively to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

- 8 to 12 years of software engineering experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a technical leadership role.
- Strong expertise in Java (Java 11 or higher) and Spring Boot is mandatory.
- Proven track record of delivering microservices architectures in production environments.
- At least 3 years of experience in fintech, banking, or payments domains.
- Solid understanding of REST and SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, and OpenAPI specifications.
- Experience working with messaging and streaming platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL) and at least one NoSQL database.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, along with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
- Strong grasp of design patterns, domain-driven design, and API security protocols including OAuth2 and JWT. Knowledge of distributed system patterns such as saga, circuit breaker, and idempotency is essential.
- Experience using Git, Jira, and Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
