Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated professional to support the integration of gender equality within climate-resilient agriculture (CRA) and water management initiatives. This role focuses on empowering women and youth in agriculture by enhancing access to post-harvest management, food processing, and income-generating activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing gender-responsive training programs, coordinating networks, and supporting the scaling of CRA practices, particularly through Farmer Field Schools (FFS). This position requires a strong commitment to promoting gender equality and social inclusion across all project components.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the integration of gender equality principles into climate-resilient agriculture and water management practices to ensure inclusive project outcomes.
- Contribute actively to initiatives aimed at women and youth empowerment, focusing on improving their access to post-harvest management, food processing, and income-generating opportunities.
- Assist in designing and delivering gender-responsive training programs for farmers, with a special emphasis on women, covering nutrition-sensitive agriculture, climate resilience, and sustainable farming practices.
- Coordinate the Gender and Social Inclusion Focal Points network to embed gender-responsive approaches throughout all project activities.
- Support the review, updating, monitoring, and reporting processes related to the Gender Action Plan (GAP), ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Facilitate the introduction and expansion of climate-resilient agriculture practices within Farmer Field Schools, prioritizing the empowerment of female farmers.
- Organize and conduct training and capacity-building sessions for FAO staff, government officials, and local partners on gender-sensitive agricultural methodologies.
- Plan and manage stakeholder meetings and workshops aimed at advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment within the agricultural sector.
- Document and share success stories and progress related to gender achievements within the project to highlight impact and lessons learned.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of gender-related project activities, including meeting minutes and reports.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of gender-focused progress reports, supporting the drafting of periodic updates for donors and stakeholders.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support project objectives and gender integration efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Proven technical expertise in implementing Farmer Field Schools and conducting gender-sensitive nutrition and capacity-building activities.
- Demonstrated experience in gender analysis and effectively integrating gender equality into agricultural development programs.
- Strong facilitation skills with the ability to conduct training sessions on gender-sensitive agriculture, rural development, and women’s empowerment.
- Practical field experience in projects that promote food security, agricultural development, and rural livelihoods with a clear gender focus.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English; proficiency in local languages such as Punjabi and Sindhi is highly desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multicultural, team-oriented environments and willingness to travel as required.
- Familiarity with administrative and financial procedures relevant to development projects.
- Capacity to innovate and enhance existing methods and systems to improve work efficiency and outcomes.
