Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Climate Finance and Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Trainer to deliver tailored, immersive training sessions for national and provincial staff and partners of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS). This role focuses on enhancing technical capacities related to climate-sensitive DRM, climate finance access, and loss and damage funds. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in strengthening PRCS’s ability to support vulnerable communities affected by climate change through innovative, climate-smart policies and practices. This position requires a deep understanding of climate change concepts, proposal writing, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure sustainable program outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct customized three-day immersive training sessions for PRCS staff and partners at both national and provincial levels, focusing on climate finance access and loss and damage funds.
- Refresh and build participants’ knowledge on fundamental climate change concepts, climate justice, and basic proposal writing techniques to enhance their effectiveness in program implementation.
- Strengthen PRCS’s technical capacity in climate-sensitive disaster risk management to better support communities vulnerable to climate impacts.
- Facilitate enhanced networking and collaboration with key stakeholders, including government bodies, international and local NGOs, research institutions, and faith-based organizations to foster multi-sectoral partnerships.
- Promote and implement climate-smart DRM policies and practices across macro, meso, and micro levels to improve community resilience against climate-related disasters.
- Build the capacity of PRCS staff on the impacts of climate change and adaptation strategies, thereby improving disaster preparedness and response mechanisms.
- Support PRCS’s climate sensitivity initiatives by integrating DRM activities with innovative tools and methodologies aligned with international best practices.
- Update and revise the Federation’s eVCA (enhanced Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment) and Green Response approaches, incorporating lessons learned and experiences from National Societies.
- Facilitate the replication of organizational development achievements within PRCS and among relevant partners to maximize impact.
- Assist PRCS in identifying, prioritizing, and accessing emerging sources of climate finance and loss and damage funds to secure sustainable funding streams.
- Work towards ensuring the long-term sustainability of PRCS’s Climate Change Unit, enabling it to remain self-sufficient beyond the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in delivering climate finance and disaster risk management training, preferably within humanitarian or development contexts.
- Strong knowledge of climate change concepts, climate justice, and proposal writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations.
- Experience in developing and implementing climate-smart DRM policies and practices.
- Familiarity with international best practices and tools such as eVCA and Green Response methodologies.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills to engage and empower participants effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
