Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Book Formatter to join our publishing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for formatting books and eBooks for both print and digital publication, ensuring a polished and professional final product. This role requires close collaboration with authors, editors, and designers to meet specific formatting requirements while adhering to industry standards. The successful candidate will have a strong eye for detail, excellent technical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently to meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

- Format books and eBooks for print and digital platforms, ensuring consistency in layout, typography, and spacing throughout the manuscript.
- Collaborate effectively with authors, editors, and designers to understand and implement specific formatting needs.
- Prepare final files that are fully compatible with major publishing platforms such as Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, and others.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and correct any formatting errors or inconsistencies within manuscripts to maintain high-quality standards.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines, ensuring timely delivery of formatted files.
- Maintain quality control by reviewing formatted materials thoroughly before submission.

Required Qualifications

- Proficiency in industry-standard formatting tools such as Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, Vellum, or similar software.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing error-free, professional-quality work.
- Basic understanding of print and eBook formatting standards, including knowledge of typography, layout, and spacing conventions.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines consistently.
