Power BI Consultant

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Power BI Consultant with a minimum of two years’ hands-on experience in business intelligence, data modeling, and dashboard/report development. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of data visualization best practices and a genuine passion for converting raw data into actionable business insights that support strategic decision-making. This role requires a professional who can effectively collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver impactful Power BI solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy Power BI dashboards and reports that align with specific business requirements. You will be responsible for connecting to diverse data sources, importing data, and performing data transformations using Power Query and DAX to ensure data is accurate and meaningful. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, you will gather and analyze requirements, translating them into clear, insightful visualizations that drive business value.

Optimizing report and dashboard performance to maintain efficiency and responsiveness is essential. You will also maintain and update existing Power BI solutions based on user feedback and evolving business needs. Developing and managing robust data models to support effective decision-making is a key part of this role.

Working alongside data engineers, analysts, and business users, you will ensure data accuracy and alignment across all reports. Maintaining data integrity is critical, as is providing training and ongoing support to end-users to maximize adoption and effective use of Power BI tools.

Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field is required. Candidates must have at least two years of experience in Power BI development, demonstrating strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M language), and data modeling techniques.

Experience with SQL and a solid understanding of relational database concepts are essential. The ability to analyze complex datasets and present findings clearly and effectively is critical to success in this role. Candidates should also have knowledge of data governance, security, and access control within the Power BI environment.

Familiarity with Power BI Service features such as publishing, workspaces, sharing, and scheduling is necessary. Excellent communication skills are required to manage stakeholder expectations effectively. Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail round out the qualifications needed for this position.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with other business intelligence tools like Tableau or Qlik is a plus. Knowledge of Azure Data Services—including Azure SQL, Data Factory, and Synapse—will be advantageous. Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform tools such as Power Apps and Power Automate is also desirable. Holding a Microsoft Power BI certification will be considered an asset.
