Technical Responsibilities:
The Hygiene Promoter is accountable for fulfilling their roles and responsibilities in line with Islamic values of fairness, humanity, honesty, respect, and fair treatment of colleagues and staff.
The following are the main responsibilities that the role holder will be accountable for:
- Implement project activities related to hygiene promotion.
- Promotion and education within targeted communities through contact with community representatives.
- Conduct detailed assessments regarding knowledge and practices in the area of intervention and prepare survey reports before and after hygiene sessions.
- Conduct surveys as requested by the immediate supervisor.
- Design hygiene sessions that raise awareness about the use of safe water for drinking and provide easy methods for making water safe.
- Arrange and deliver hygiene promotion sessions to the targeted community, ensuring complete record-keeping and pictorial proofs.
- Ensure participation of the target community in health and cleanliness campaigns.
- Actively participate in campaigns such as Global Hand Washing Day, Global Breastfeeding Week, Global Toilet Day, etc.
- Adapt and assist in developing information, education, and communication (IEC) materials for hygiene and disaster risk reduction-related activities.
- Coordinate and conduct training for hygiene and disaster risk reduction-related activities in line with the agreed curriculum.
- Conduct training for communities in hygiene promotion and the implementation of various techniques and activities as per project objectives.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Prepare weekly/monthly work plans against the performance-measured time frame (PMT) ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Maintain hard records that include field visit reports, meeting minutes, assessment records, and other relevant documentation.
- Ensure proper filling of forms and formats as per desired standards.
- Extend support to Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) staff for gathering desired information.
- Ensure the availability of up-to-date information in the Management Information System (MIS) regularly in consultation with MEAL staff.
- Coordinate closely with the line manager for effective implementation of project activities.
- Identify and communicate any issues that might affect project implementation and engage community support with guidance from the line manager.
- Be flexible and adapt quickly to changes in requirements.
Organizational Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with the organization's policies and procedures for effective service delivery to communities.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the organization's values while working with communities.
- Abide by the organization's zero-tolerance policy towards bribery and corruption through community sensitization.
- Have thorough knowledge of the organization's strategic priorities to ensure effective implementation and future sustainability.
- Assist in identifying and documenting organizational successes to showcase the organization's work.
- Facilitate communities in adopting environment-friendly and cost-effective approaches to meet their current and future needs, with specific attention to climate change.
- Focus efforts on mainstreaming marginalized groups such as persons with disabilities, minorities, women, and children in project activities.
- Strengthen mechanisms to influence decision-makers through communities, highlighting the protection needs of people.
- Participate in the implementation of the organization's seasonal programs and emergency responses.
