Junior Data Scientist

Clearloop Labs, an AI engineering studio based in Glasgow, Scotland, is seeking a Junior Data Scientist to join their on-site team. The company specializes in creating custom automation systems that reduce repetitive manual tasks for businesses by leveraging AI-powered data extraction, document intelligence, chatbots, workflow automation, KPI reporting, and predictive machine learning. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to work on practical, production-ready AI solutions for clients across the US and UK, using open-source technologies and tailored automation tools. The ideal candidate will have a solid grounding in mathematics, statistics, and machine learning, with a keen interest in applying these skills to real-world AI and automation challenges. Working closely with experienced engineers and data scientists, the Junior Data Scientist will contribute to developing data pipelines, machine learning models, and intelligent document processing systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, preprocess, and analyze both structured and unstructured datasets.
- Conduct Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Assist in the development, training, testing, and evaluation of machine learning models.
- Utilize Python, SQL, Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn for data manipulation and modeling tasks.
- Support the creation of automated data extraction and document processing workflows.
- Help build AI-driven document intelligence and chatbot solutions.
- Perform statistical analysis, feature engineering, and model validation.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to effectively communicate findings.
- Validate data quality, model outputs, and overall system performance.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to align on business requirements.
- Document workflows, analytical methods, experiments, and project results.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of statistics, probability, and data analysis principles.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with its data science libraries.
- Working knowledge of SQL and database concepts.
- Basic understanding of machine learning algorithms and predictive modeling techniques.
- Experience with Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Scikit-learn.
- Competence in data visualization and exploratory data analysis.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication abilities and a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI technologies.
- Basic knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP).
