Junior Full Stack Software Engineer (TypeScript & Backend Focus)

Devfum, a software engineering company located in Faisal Town, Lahore, is looking for a Junior Full Stack Software Engineer with 6 to 18 months of professional experience. The company develops end-to-end digital products, including scalable backend systems, modern web applications, AI-driven platforms, cloud infrastructure, and interactive 3D experiences. This role involves hands-on development with a stronger focus on backend tasks while also contributing to frontend work. The ideal candidate should have solid skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, practical experience with Node.js backend development, and familiarity with React.js and Next.js. The position requires a proactive developer capable of independently solving problems, considering edge cases, and effectively utilizing AI-assisted development tools, all while maintaining high standards of code quality, security, and reliability. This is an on-site role based in Lahore, offering the chance to work on production-grade software across various industries.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain full-stack applications using TypeScript, Node.js, React.js, and Next.js.
- Build and support backend services, RESTful APIs, and business logic using Express.js or similar frameworks.
- Manage relational databases like PostgreSQL, including schema design, relationships, migrations, queries, and ORM operations.
- Implement authentication, authorization, role-based access control (RBAC), and session management.
- Create responsive, reusable, and high-performance frontend interfaces with React.js and Next.js.
- Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, webhooks, and external services.
- Handle input validation, error handling, logging, and asynchronous workflows.
- Manage database transactions, API failures, retries, and ensure data consistency.
- Write clean, maintainable, and strongly typed TypeScript code.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex for implementation, debugging, testing, and refactoring.
- Review and validate AI-generated code to ensure correctness, security, and maintainability.
- Write unit and integration tests to verify application functionality.
- Debug frontend and backend issues, investigate errors, and troubleshoot using logs and debugging tools.
- Understand existing codebases and application architecture to implement new features following established engineering patterns.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and collaborative development efforts.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 6 to 18 months of professional software development experience (excluding internships, academic projects, and training). Candidates with more than 18 months of experience will not be considered.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, including asynchronous programming, promises, and modern ES6+ features.
- Hands-on backend development experience using Node.js with Express.js or similar frameworks.
- Practical experience building frontend applications using React.js and Next.js.
- Good understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, authentication, authorization, and backend business logic.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
- Familiarity with ORMs such as Prisma, Drizzle, TypeORM, or similar tools.
- Understanding of database schemas, relationships, queries, and transactions.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and handling asynchronous operations.
- Knowledge of input validation, error handling, and secure API development.
- Familiarity with Git and version control workflows.
- Practical experience using AI coding assistants, with the ability to review, debug, and validate generated code.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.

This is a full-time, on-site position in Lahore with a monthly salary range of Rs90,000 to Rs120,000. Candidates must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
