Key Responsibilities
- Perform cytogenetic investigations, including chromosome analysis and conventional karyotyping.
- Conduct and interpret Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) tests following established protocols.
- Prepare, culture, harvest, and process specimens for cytogenetic analysis accurately and efficiently.
- Analyze chromosome preparations to identify numerical and structural chromosomal abnormalities.
- Ensure precise documentation, reporting, and maintenance of all laboratory records.
- Implement quality control procedures and adhere to laboratory safety and quality standards.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and consumables according to established protocols.
- Comply with applicable Joint Commission International (JCI), College of American Pathologists (CAP), ISO, and institutional laboratory standards.
- Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate case processing.
- Participate actively in internal quality assurance, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant post-degree experience in a reputable diagnostic laboratory, with practical experience in cytogenetics, karyotyping, and FISH techniques.
- Familiarity with CAP-accredited or other internationally accredited diagnostic laboratories is preferred.
