We are looking for a skilled Laser Cutting Machine Operator to join our fabrication team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, loading, and operating CNC laser cutting machines, including fiber and CO2 types, to accurately process sheet metal and plate materials. This role requires close adherence to customer and engineering specifications to ensure high-quality output. Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and experience maintaining tight tolerances are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and program CNC laser cutting machinery by adjusting parameters such as speeds, feeds, and gas pressures to operate the equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load raw sheet metal onto machine beds, either manually or using overhead cranes or sheet lifters, and unload finished parts.
- Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, cut lists, and nesting layouts to guide the cutting process.
- Select, inspect, and adjust laser nozzles, lenses, focus positions, and assist gases (Oxygen, Nitrogen, Air) based on the type and thickness of the material being processed.
- Perform first-piece and in-process quality inspections using precision tools like calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and pin gauges to maintain strict tolerances.
- Identify and correct cutting defects such as burrs, dross, beam misalignment, and incomplete cuts during production runs.
- Conduct daily preventative maintenance on machinery, including lens cleaning, nozzle condition checks, bed cleaning, and slag removal to ensure optimal performance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience operating industrial CNC laser cutting equipment, either Fiber or CO2 types.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, flat patterns, and shop schematics accurately.
- Experience working with various metals including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and brass or copper.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions, edge squareness, and hole locations.
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive lifting, and safely handle heavy sheet metal materials.
- High School Diploma or GED is required; vocational training or CNC machine certifications are considered an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Candidates with additional vocational training or CNC certification will be preferred. We offer a competitive monthly salary ranging from Rs35,000 to Rs55,000, with overtime opportunities available. Employees also receive paid time off and paid holidays as part of the benefits package. This is an in-person role requiring reliable attendance at the designated work location.
