This role involves developing technical solutions, qualifying requirements, and engaging with customers to deliver integrated, resilient, and scalable data center designs. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of data center architecture, including standards such as TIA-942 and Uptime Institute Tier III/Rated-3, as well as expertise in power, cooling, telecom infrastructure, and both active and passive components. Reporting to the Head of Presales – SI & Managed Services, the role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including design, facilities, ICT, OEMs, system integrators, consultants, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead presales activities for enterprise data center design and infrastructure solutions, from requirement gathering to conceptual design, proposal development, and technical handover.
- Engage with enterprise customers to understand their business continuity, availability, capacity, rack density, power, cooling, physical security, connectivity, expansion, and operational needs.
- Develop conceptual and detailed data center designs covering white space, raised flooring, racks, containment, structured cabling, active/passive network infrastructure, power distribution, UPS, PDU, generators, and related facilities.
- Apply and interpret data center standards, particularly TIA-942 and Uptime Institute Tier III/Rated-3, ensuring customer-specific compliance and design requirements are met.
- Evaluate and design various cooling solutions, including precision cooling, in-row cooling, perimeter cooling, containment-based cooling, and high-density or liquid cooling where applicable.
- Design power infrastructure concepts such as utility feeds, generators, UPS configurations, STS/ATS, PDUs, redundancy, power monitoring, and IT load distribution.
- Design telecom and structured cabling infrastructure including fiber and copper connectivity, pathways, racks, patching, and cross-connects.
- Coordinate requirements across active network, compute, storage, security, and facilities teams to ensure an integrated data center architecture.
- Prepare architecture drawings, layouts, BoQ/BoM, technical specifications, compliance matrices, and responses to RFI/RFQ/RFP/tenders.
- Conduct customer workshops and site discussions, perform data collection, gap analysis, and technical risk identification.
- Collaborate with OEMs, distributors, system integrators, contractors, and subject matter experts for solution validation, design input, pricing support, and technical clarifications.
- Support solution estimation, total cost of ownership discussions, phased expansion planning, and future-ready design recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in data center design, presales, consulting, or solution architecture, preferably with enterprise customers.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Telecom, Networking, Mechanical Engineering, Data Center Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong practical knowledge of data center architecture and design principles, including TIA-942 and Uptime Institute Tier III/Rated-3 standards.
- Experience with enterprise data center projects involving active and passive components such as structured cabling, racks, containment, power systems, UPS, PDUs, generators, HVAC/precision cooling, and telecom infrastructure.
- Understanding of various cooling technologies and their application in conventional and high-density IT environments.
- Ability to interpret power, cooling, rack density, connectivity, and availability requirements and translate them into integrated designs.
- Relevant certifications such as Uptime Institute, TIA-942, CDCP/CDCS/CDCE, or equivalent are preferred.
- Proven experience working with multiple OEMs, distributors, system integrators, facilities contractors, and specialist vendors.
- Strong skills in enterprise customer engagement, technical discovery, workshops, presentations, and preparing RFI/RFQ/RFP responses and solution proposals.
- Ability to coordinate multiple subject matter experts across network, compute, storage, security, power, cooling, structured cabling, and telecom domains.
- Excellent technical documentation, presentation, communication, stakeholder management, and project coordination skills.
