Zones, a global leader in end-to-end IT solutions and a Minority Business Enterprise with over 35 years of experience, is seeking a Licensing Advisor Manager. This role involves leading a team that supports clients in understanding, acquiring, optimizing, renewing, and expanding their software and cloud licensing solutions. The manager will blend leadership skills, licensing expertise, and operational oversight to align team efforts with business objectives, strengthen customer relationships, and collaborate across departments to drive growth and deliver outstanding customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide daily leadership, coaching, and workload management for Licensing Advisors and related resources, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer success. Oversee team pipeline, case queues, service levels, and performance reporting, proactively identifying risks and bottlenecks. Guide the team on Microsoft and other Tier 1 software publisher licensing programs, including product terms, entitlements, renewals, cloud transitions, and commercial options. Act as an escalation point for complex licensing inquiries, coordinating with publishers, partners, sales, and technical teams as necessary. Lead consultative engagements with clients and sellers to uncover licensing needs, clarify options, and identify optimization opportunities that support new sales, renewals, and expansions. Develop and execute strategies to grow existing client relationships and acquire new customers. Build strong relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, including executive contacts, to communicate licensing lifecycle and software asset management capabilities. Contribute to proposals, presentations, and targeted customer meetings to support software and cloud business development. Manage the team’s customer portfolio against revenue, profit, pipeline, and service objectives. Enhance operational visibility through improved queue management, dashboards, reporting, and escalation monitoring. Collaborate with process owners to refine licensing workflows, case routing, knowledge content, and handoffs across teams. Maintain up-to-date playbooks, job aids, and knowledge articles, ensuring team adoption of changes in publisher programs and internal processes. Plan and deliver onboarding, coaching, and readiness activities for team members. Evaluate new product and campaign opportunities, preparing the team with relevant guidance and enablement. Use data-driven insights to recommend improvements, support business reviews, and ensure consistent execution.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of five years’ experience in software, cloud, licensing, sales, consulting, or operations, including at least one year in a supervisory or leadership role. Proven expertise in software and cloud licensing sales, advisory services, renewals, lifecycle management, or operational support. Experience leading customer-facing or seller-support teams in target-driven environments. Strong understanding of software and cloud licensing concepts, commercial programs, product terms, entitlements, and renewal processes. Excellent ability to simplify complex licensing information for customers, sellers, and team members. Strong coaching, communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to manage priorities, service levels, escalations, and cross-functional dependencies with minimal supervision. Proficiency in data analysis, Excel, dashboards, reporting, and case or pipeline management tools. Sound judgment, attention to detail, and clear communication skills. Capability to identify operational gaps and lead process and knowledge management improvements.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Working knowledge of Microsoft product terms, licensing programs, cloud offerings, and commercial agreements. Familiarity with other Tier 1 software publishers; Adobe licensing experience is a plus. Experience with Zones’ internal systems, including CRM, case management, reporting, and knowledge platforms. Relevant Microsoft certifications in licensing, cloud, or software asset management are advantageous.
