Literacy & Numeracy Cluster In-Charge

This role involves providing specialized classroom coaching and instructional support focused on foundational literacy and numeracy from early childhood education (ECE) onwards. The incumbent will work closely with teachers and students in Model and Satellite Schools, delivering teacher training, demonstration lessons, and continuous academic follow-up. The position emphasizes supporting multigrade teaching environments, conducting assessments, and fostering learning acceleration through targeted interventions.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct regular teacher training and coaching sessions on foundational literacy and numeracy, including Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) and Early Grade Mathematics Assessment (EGMA).
- Provide classroom-based coaching by observing lessons, offering constructive feedback, co-teaching, and demonstrating effective instructional techniques.
- Assist teachers in identifying learning gaps and struggling students, recommending appropriate remedial strategies to improve outcomes.
- Prepare and support practical multigrade lesson plans with differentiated activities tailored to various grade levels.
- Develop and support the creation of lesson plans, worksheets, activities, and low-cost teaching-learning materials to enhance classroom engagement.
- Administer, compile, and analyze baseline, periodic, and end-line EGRA/EGMA assessments to monitor student progress.
- Conduct demonstration and support classes alongside teachers in Model and Satellite Schools to model best practices.
- Monitor student progress regularly and support learning acceleration through small-group instruction and targeted learning activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of coaching sessions, assessments, lesson plans, remedial plans, and student progress.
- Submit weekly assessment and coaching reports, as well as monthly academic reports, to the Academic Coordinator.
- Coordinate effectively with the Academic Coordinator, school principals or heads, teachers, Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)/MEAL staff, and the Project Manager to ensure alignment and smooth implementation of academic activities.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, English, Early Childhood Education, or a related discipline. Relevant certifications or additional training in foundational literacy and numeracy are advantageous.
- Proven experience in foundational literacy and numeracy instruction, teacher coaching, early-grade assessments, or multigrade teaching environments.
- Practical knowledge of classroom-based assessments and the ability to use data to inform instructional improvements.
- Strong communication, training, reporting, documentation, and interpersonal skills essential for effective collaboration and knowledge transfer.
- Willingness and ability to work in remote and resource-constrained school settings, demonstrating adaptability and commitment.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information

Candidates with experience working in similar educational projects or with local communities, especially those from Balochistan, will be given preference. The role requires a commitment to achieving measurable improvements, with an expected minimum 20% increase in student literacy and numeracy scores from baseline to end-line assessments, subject to approved methodologies.

Performance Expectations

- Conduct at least two structured coaching or observation sessions per teacher each month, aligned with the school calendar and operational feasibility.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all planned assessments and academic reporting requirements.
- Demonstrate a clear impact on student learning outcomes through targeted instructional support and follow-up.
