We are looking for a skilled Tooling Engineer to join our team onsite in Lahore, working the night shift to support our North American automotive clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving progressive stamping dies, welding and fabrication fixtures, assembly jigs, checking fixtures, and related production tooling. This role demands strong 3D CAD proficiency, practical knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes, GD&T expertise, and excellent problem-solving skills. Effective communication in English is essential to collaborate with cross-functional teams and support clients in the automotive and heavy manufacturing sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Stamping Tooling - Automotive:
Develop progressive stamping strip layouts for sheet-metal automotive components, considering part geometry, forming requirements, and production feasibility. Plan station sequencing, nesting, material utilization, and progression through cutting and forming operations. Perform engineering calculations such as tonnage, cutting and forming forces, center of pressure, and die balance. Design punches, die blocks, strippers, pads, guides, pilots, retainers, and other die components. Support die tryout and troubleshooting, including spring-back correction and clearance adjustments.

Welding & Assembly Tooling - Automotive:
Design spot and MIG welding fixtures, assembly jigs, checking fixtures, and gauges for stamped components and assemblies. Develop locating schemes using datums, RPS principles, net pads, locating pins, and pin-and-slot arrangements. Design mechanical and pneumatic locating and clamping systems with consideration for weld gun access, weld sequence, operator ergonomics, and maintainability. Apply GD&T to ensure repeatable part location and assembly accuracy. Support fixture tryout, buy-off, first-article inspection, and design modifications.

Fabrication & Machining Tooling - Heavy Machinery:
Design weld fixtures, assembly jigs, and machining fixtures for large fabricated structures such as frames, booms, buckets, tanks, and agricultural implements. Develop rigid tooling solutions considering welding distortion, pre-camber, weld sequence, thermal effects, and dimensional stability. Incorporate positioners, crane access, lifting and handling requirements, and operator safety into tooling designs. Create modular and adjustable tooling for high-mix, low-volume fabrication environments.

Tooling Design & Documentation:
Create complete 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings for dies, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and tooling components. Apply GD&T, fits, tolerances, and tolerance stack-up principles to ensure dimensional accuracy and repeatability. Select standard tooling components, locating devices, clamps, cylinders, fasteners, and commercially available parts. Maintain accurate tooling documentation and update revisions based on tryout, manufacturing, quality, and production feedback.

Tooling Optimization & Continuous Improvement:
Review existing tooling to identify improvements in cycle time, ergonomics, reliability, maintainability, quality, and cost. Troubleshoot production and dimensional issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions. Support tooling standardization, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Support:
Collaborate with manufacturing, production, quality, maintenance, machining, welding, tool rooms, and engineering teams throughout tooling design, tryout, and implementation. Communicate technical requirements, design changes, and project status clearly to stakeholders. Manage multiple tooling projects and design revisions while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.

Required Qualifications
- Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in Mechanical or Tool & Die Making, or a Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech, BS, BE, BSc) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics Engineering, or related fields.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience in tooling design, fixture design, die design, fabrication, automotive manufacturing, or heavy machinery.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or Fusion 360.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, fits, tolerances, and tolerance stack-up.
- Knowledge of progressive stamping, sheet-metal forming, welding, machining, and fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with fixture locating and clamping principles, RPS/datums, progressive die components, pneumatic clamping systems, and tooling tryout or buy-off activities.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Additional Information
- Working hours: 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM (Monday to Friday) to align with North American client schedules.
- Competitive salary with a performance-based annual bonus.
- Location: DHA Phase 8, Lahore.
