Under the supervision of Chief Operating Officer responsible for supervising, managing Leading complex and challenging risk-based Internal Audits, producing reports and recommendations for Management. Thereby provides Management with independent, timely and reasonable assurance that internal control systems are adequate and effective. Also responsible for performing internal audit functions such as test of internal controls, compliance to policies and procedures, accuracy of data reporting and providing recommendations to improve internal controls. Coordinates with the External Auditor for any audit engagement needs and ensures that Audit requirements are met on a timely manner. Shall perform audits across all functions and locations.

Duties & Responsibilities                 

  • Travels to all locations / branches of the Company to perform the responsibilities of Internal Audit.
  • Manages and leads entire audit assignment process, including detailed planning of audit assignments, audit testing, and reporting in accordance with Internal Audit methodology.
  • Ensures that audit assignments are focused on key risk areas, and are performed efficiently and within time and expense budgets.
  • Supervises / leads / coaches other relevant staff including co-sourced audit staff where applicable.
  • Completes standard paperwork and questionnaires to confirm internal controls.
  • Documents audit findings and drafts audit reports, ensuring that audit issues are communicated and resolved as early as possible. Obtains necessary approvals of final reports before issue.
  • Ensures a Company complies with internal regulations and established control protocol
  • Examines documentation, including reports, statements, records, and memos to gather information.
  • Reconciles documentation with actual inventory or assets to ascertain accuracy.
  • Immediately reports significant findings which could adversely affect the Company assets and/or reputation.
  • Participates in meetings with other Departments to update them findings and the audit process.
  • Holds audit-related meetings with Management.
  • Supports Internal Audit team in managing relationships with the Company branches, employees and external parties.
  • Ensure that the Internal Audit Department is capable in establishing the audit universe, risk assessment, and annual audit plan at Head Office and branches.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of assets. Review operations for consistency with operational goals and objectives and recommend operating improvements.
  • Review and analyzes income/balance sheet, budgets, profit & loss, consolidated financial and operational reports, and other \statements, and reports.
  • Analyzes financial reports, statements, and records and making recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures.
  • Ensure the accuracy of journal entries including general ledger, A/P, A/R, etc. and perform account reconciliation and analysis while ensuring supporting documentation is accurate and in compliance with company policies.
  • Manages feedback processes and follow-up of reported audit findings.
  • Produces analysis of Management information.
  • Analyses audit results to determine methods for increasing profits and decreasing unnecessary costs.
  • Provides Management with advice and support in view Internal Audit observations which are highlighted during the Internal Audit.
  • Performs ad hoc projects as requested.
  • Performs research, e.g. into new audit techniques, and makes recommendations for improvements to Internal Audit systems, reporting and etc.
  • Responsible for investigating fraud, irregularities and other accounting related improprieties. Coordinates activities with Accounts / HR and other areas as deemed necessary to effectively conduct the investigation. May complete investigations on its own accord, at the requirement of the Management.
  • Makes recommendations for the best ways for a company to avoid fraud and reduce waste.
  • Assesses best financial practices for a Company and makes relevant, informed suggestions.
  • Keeps up-to-date on audit procedures and regulations by attending conferences, workshops, and continuing education seminars.
  • Willingness to take calculated risks. Recognizes situations of “sunk costs” and the necessity to shift focus.
  • Responsible to keep all confidential matters secret and protect the interest of the Company.
  • Other suitable duties assigned as required or in line with the position's competencies.
