We are seeking a skilled professional with extensive experience in environmental and social risk management to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both national and international sustainability standards and regulatory frameworks. This role involves assessing environmental and social risks within the banking sector, supporting green financing initiatives, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies. The successful candidate will work closely with various internal departments and external stakeholders to implement effective risk mitigation strategies and promote sustainable banking practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of key national and international sustainability standards, including IFRS S1 & S2, SASB, GRI, TCFD, TNFD, GHG Protocol, and guidelines from the Ministry of Climate Change (GoP), provincial governments, SBP, SECP, as well as reporting and disclosure frameworks from various countries and green taxonomies.
- Maintain a strong understanding of environmental and social (E&S) laws, policies, and regulatory requirements at both national and international levels.
- Apply expertise in E&S risk assessment policies, procedures, methodologies, and best practices to evaluate and manage risks effectively.
- Possess solid knowledge of green financing mechanisms such as green bonds, social impact bonds, and sustainable equity strategies.
- Analyze large datasets to measure carbon footprints and evaluate environmental and social risks accurately.
- Utilize IT systems and applications to support data analysis and reporting functions.
- Implement the bank’s E&S risk policies, frameworks, roadmaps, strategies, and targets to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Conduct thorough environmental and social risk assessments of the credit portfolio and provide detailed evaluations of credit proposals.
- Ensure mitigation of E&S risks while identifying and maximizing potential opportunities.
- Develop and present comprehensive E&S risk reports to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Provide Green Advisory Services to the bank and its existing and potential clients to support sustainable financing initiatives.
- Collaborate with various bank functions to ensure effective implementation of E&S risk policies and procedures.
- Identify staff training needs to support career development and enhance team capabilities.
- Perform any additional assignments as directed by line management.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail for data assurance and quality control.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, critical thinking, and multitasking abilities.
- Work efficiently under pressure, employing problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements, banking operations, and internal policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

- A Master’s degree is preferred; however, a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, MBA, or a related field from an HEC-recognized university or institute is required.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in environmental and social risk management, preferably within the banking or financial sector.

- Experience working with green financing products and sustainable investment strategies is highly desirable.
