The Manager Internal Audit is a pivotal role responsible for delivering independent and objective assurance on the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, governance, and compliance systems within the organization. This position focuses on identifying operational improvements and ensuring strict adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements. Reporting directly to the Chief Internal Auditor, the successful candidate will plan and execute risk-based audits across various departments, branches, and operational functions to safeguard the organization’s assets and reputation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement risk-based annual and periodic internal audit plans tailored to the organization’s risk profile. Conduct comprehensive audits of Head Office departments, branches, zones, and operational units to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with policies. Assess operational, financial, compliance, and information system risks, identifying control weaknesses and inefficiencies that could impact the organization’s objectives. Examine financial transactions, records, procedures, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance. Review adherence to company policies, applicable laws, regulatory requirements, and approved procedures. Prepare detailed internal audit reports that highlight observations, risks, recommendations, and management responses. Monitor and report on the implementation status of audit recommendations through systematic follow-up reviews. Coordinate with external auditors, regulatory authorities, and other assurance functions to facilitate smooth audit processes. Conduct special investigations or reviews as assigned by senior management to address specific concerns or risks. Evaluate risk management and governance processes, recommending enhancements to strengthen the control environment. Maintain comprehensive audit working papers and documentation in line with professional standards and best practices. Assist in enhancing the company’s internal control framework to effectively mitigate risks. Provide advisory support to management while preserving the independence and objectivity of the Internal Audit function. Supervise and mentor audit teams to ensure timely completion and high quality of audit assignments. Present significant audit findings and insights to senior management and audit committees when required.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Chartered Accountant (CA), ACCA, ICMA, or a bachelor’s degree equivalent to 16 years of education (four-year degree) from a recognized local or foreign institute/university accredited by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. A minimum academic achievement of 60% marks is required. The role demands at least six years of professional experience, including a minimum of three years in a senior-level audit or risk management position. Experience within insurance or financial institutions is highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Strong expertise in internal controls, audit planning and execution, risk assessment, compliance, and financial and operational reviews is essential. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required to identify risks and recommend practical solutions. Proven experience in managing audit teams and delivering comprehensive, clear, and actionable audit reports is important. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, governance best practices, and industry standards will be advantageous.
