Marathi Linguistic QA Specialist (Remote)

In this remote, hourly contractor position, you will serve as the Marathi Quality Assurance Lead (QAL) responsible for overseeing quality, consistency, and trainer performance across Marathi AI training projects. Your primary duties include reviewing AI-generated Marathi content and trainer/QA outputs, evaluating them against project guidelines, and providing clear, precise written feedback. You will ensure all contributors adhere to established quality standards by assessing accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, formatting, and compliance with project-specific rubrics. Additionally, you will identify recurring quality issues, communicate updates to trainers and QAs, support onboarding efforts, maintain documentation, and help activate contributors who are inactive or inconsistent. This role demands strong Marathi and English language skills, exceptional attention to detail, structured communication, and the ability to manage quality workflows within remote teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor quality by spot-checking Marathi content, identifying issues, providing ongoing feedback via direct messages, and escalating critical or recurring problems.
- Communicate regularly with trainers and QAs on platforms such as Discord to share updates on item guidelines, project changes, workflow adjustments, and quality expectations.
- Address questions from trainers and QAs promptly and clearly, particularly regarding Marathi wording, register, translation accuracy, cultural context, regional usage, and complex edge cases.
- Manage trainer and QA activation by reaching out to inactive contributors, encouraging engagement, tracking follow-ups, and flagging availability concerns when necessary.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive Marathi project documentation, including style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
- Conduct onboarding and training sessions with trainers and QAs to explain project workflows, rubrics, quality standards, and Marathi-specific style requirements.
- Ensure consistent application of Marathi language guidelines by all trainers and QAs, keeping teams aligned with updates as projects evolve.
- Identify recurring quality gaps and propose improvements to workflows, contributing to the development of scalable QA processes for Marathi-language projects.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marathi, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Marathi with strong reading and writing skills.
- Strong command of English to follow project guidelines, communicate effectively with teams, and provide clear feedback.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Marathi writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
- Deep understanding of Marathi grammar, spelling conventions, punctuation, tone, register, regional variations, and cultural context.
- Ability to evaluate Marathi content against detailed rubrics and identify issues such as mistranslation, literal phrasing, unnatural tone, hallucinated claims, ambiguity, or inconsistent terminology.
- Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs is highly preferred.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced remote environments using tools like Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized, capable of maintaining style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, honeypots, and other quality documentation.
